important:

I would just like to say...

On behalf of the vast majority of the female population...
A large thank you to the good people at Karmaloop for their magnificent work in the men's department...

Knowing people like this are out in the world makes it all the more possible for me to shuffle out of bed in the morning.

Hey, Inspiration.

Fuck you.

I showed up. where the fuck are you?

I thought you had my back man.
I base my whole fucking existence on you and you just fuck off to some tropical island or someshit?
not even a fucking postcard saying
"hold tight miss. I'm visiting my mum, I'll be back in a few weeks. I know you gotta lotta shit going on, but I can't be around all the time."

nothing.

For now all I have is some fucking inspirational Blogs that havent been updated in like fucking 4 months - and some that are just too fucking depressing to look at right now. eg.

Here's what I'm gunna do.
Im gunna sit here and drink some fucking red wine and winge about my headache in the morning every single day until you come back.

thanks.

sound familiar?

assumptions

they say assumptions are the mother of all fuck-ups.. well. at least Turkish from Snatch said that... i think it stuck in my head becasuse of his amazing accent..

anyway. I think there are a few aceptions to this 'rule' or law. I can think of a few circumstances when it is okay to assume things..
for instance.

- If you use the letters 'F 'M' and 'L'. together, as a word- and then try to pass them off as some form or acronym for something.... It's fairly safe to assume I will not listen to you much longer. or at any point in the near future.

- as Alicia pointed out to me a little while ago... If you eat at any of those 'cafe's" on Swanston street, between Bourke and Collins streets. It is safe to assume that we are not friends.

-If you happen to be an obnoxious english backpacker on a packed tram on Brunswick street, whos fucking shopping bags are taking up two entire seats, and your screaming down the phone about how trashed you were and how hot all the guys in the hostel your staying in are... and then you proceede to scream something about how your "HEADING TO ST KILDA NOW, BABE!"..
It's safe to assume that no one on the tram is going to tap you on the shoulder and tell you your going in the wrong direction. Because, to be honest, the thought of you ending up in West Preston is just far too hilarious.

end rant.

rag on

I have been spending alot of money on magazines and books lately, here are just a couple of the ones a think are onto a good thing.

first up is local photo rag, (first issue) that was just released called 'dont sleep'
its got some pretty rad graff photography- if you want a feel for it. head over to their blog- which is amazing also here
youll see a few familiar faces- I find a really deep sense of do-good when I support locals.
keep mags alive yo!
Number 2.
The New Order- Quite a bit more content in this one compared to the last!

A good read- some amazing art and articles that are interesting and super well written.
Its neat- classy and hearty.
This is the first issue- though i believe they are up to 3 now? anyway- all you will ever need to know about shoes- streetwear-etc. (read: less wanky Vice without the fuckhead opinions of cool kids, and better looking.. so really- nothing like vice.) get it here
or go say hi to the boys here

Shameless plug here..
Fluoro
In-house magazine of the place i now work at housemouse the magazine is up to issue 7 now (which we working on and should be available soon.. but no doubt ill writing something about that when it is)

Recently went through a re branding- and just won an amazing award in the states.
Super short sharp flick through the world of design and art and life and melbourne etc. with super experimental layouts and prettyness...

anywho.
there are many more I know. But these are a few tasty tid bits.

oh and if you havent already seen Breaking Bad, do it now.

Alright. This is getting fucking pathetic.

Here is a run down of why i have been so neglectful to this blog.
However, I haven't really been missed it seems.... hmm..
aha maybe yall be thankful that I'm not distracting you from your other blogs. ahhh

self loathing in Preston.

Yes, i moved house. (with some amazing people whom I love more and more everyday)
Got a Job in an amazing design firm (which i shall tell you all about later later)
Now I have 2.
still at Uni.
Deleted facebook.
Drinking far too much coffee.
Drinking far too much wine.
and having unbelievable ammounts of fun, just sitting around the house.
Playing scrabble.
Eating at CHUJII! with ma ladeez.

I have been pretty productive.

kinda...

Anyway, someone else who has been super super productive, is my Lady Soph D.

She is about to finish her BMA in September. (FUCK YESSSSSS)
and has started up a little self indulgent blog... which, if anyone is familiar with the Mayoress ladies, is bound to be a fucking spectacular read.

its called SophIndulgent a delicious little play on words, dont ya think? and is already fantastic, despite being a young'un.
get into it. Its far more informative than this piece of crap. x

tonight. and the weekend. GO GO GO

first thing first.
I have been super slack with posts, as I dont think I've had a chance to sit still for about 2 weeks.

and I know its late notice for telling you about the next few things I'm about to tell you about, but I'm sure you all know about them anyway!

first up is Buffet. Buffet is a forum that is run by a few mates of mine (who are no doubt stressed as fuck right now) over at Acclaim mag.

(I can't find the online invite.... meh) anyway, they are been busy cooking up a tasty selection of streetwear, fashion, and lotsa designy type treats to wrap your little mouth around.
The Convention consists of 2 whole days of speakers from varying backgrounds and walks of life, and a trade show (YES TRADE SHOW!!)..... it should be amazing, and I strongly Suggest you git yo'selves down there if you are in anyway design oriented/sneaker freaked or just bored (?) tickets here.

oh. and theres going to be an amazing opeining party TONIGHT! YES TONIGHT!

In conjunction with LTRHDS (letterheads) exhibition at 1000Pound Bend Gallery...

This exhibition is NOT TO BE MISSED by anyone who has been lucky enough to be given eyes that function.

LTRHDS is an exhibition based around the australian alphabet. Each of the 26 featured artists are given a letter to reproduce in their own way... and then guess what? they have a massive party and show off their work.
I am far too excited about this show!

Seriously. GRAEME BASE. the genius behind Animalia, The Eleventh Hour. He is arguably one of my favourite all time illustrators, and he is going to be here.

this is a scene from 'sign of the seahorse' amazerrrrring.

the man is a freak.

anyway. I wont make this entry massive as I realise its Friday and we are all busy people. but check out the line up!

Anthony Lister!

and a whole bunch of amazing locals who I love so much.

the information you need!?

come come come 100o pound bend. ltl. lonsdale street, just near elizabeth.
It's going to be crazy. It's also going to be a complete sensory overload. with free beer.

c xx

ZOOM!

one of my favourite local/aussie artists at the moment (and will probably forever) is Kid Zoom.
The young talent has been in Old Melbourne town for the past few days (weeks?), and we had the pleasure of watching him do the things he does best at the St. Ali festival last saturday.
Unfortunately for many people, myself definitely included, I decided to profess my undying love for his work on one knee whilst highly intoxicated... and now feel a little silly about writing this post...
reguardless, I have chosen to suck it up and post anyway, as his genius is far too superior and important that my drunken ego.

besides, it was pretty funny.

anyway. Kid Zoom lives in Perth (clearly only the best people are spawned from perth)
He describes himself as being a low-brow art dirtbag. everyone loves a good dirtbag.
check out some of his stuff at this place.
but have a taste just below!

interview with Kid Zoom here for Letterheads exhibition coming up in a few weeks.

alex, over at Acclaim had the guy do their cover a month or so ago. fucking dope!
but it looks like he already was onto the whole 'mag' thang.

his shit is dope. check out his site for heaps more (link above)
fuck there are some amazing people out there. most of them I am willing to make a dick out of myself for.
